A phobia is a persistent, irrational fear of, and a desire to avoid, certain object/s, animals, events or situations. The word is derived from the Greek phobos meaning extreme fear and flight. The ancient Greek God, Phobos, was believed to be able to reduce the enemies of the Greeks to a state of terror, making victory in battle more likely.
You are not born with a phobia – it is a learned response. A response that you have simply programmed into your mind, when confronted by the phobic stimulus and sometimes, even the anticipation or thought of the situation is enough to provoke the response; the person then begins to experience the classic symptoms of panic attacks. Using hypnotherapy Elliott can re-programme your thoughts, change your associations and replace them with new, more appropriate feelings.
You are not alone; the fear of driving is a very common phobia, which you can easily overcome with hypnosis. The fear of driving can be extremely terrifying, frightening, not to mention extremely inconvenient and can manifest itself in a number of ways depending on the individual.
Some drivers feel comfortable driving on familiar roads or roads with very little traffic but are afraid to venture further because they feel they may lose control in unfamiliar territory.
Others may be happy to drive on small roads but have a fear of driving on motorways or dual carriageways, I have even seen clients whose fear of driving limits them to driving no more than 40 miles an hour on a motorway.
When a person experiences some of these fears of driving they can doubt their own ability to drive, they become far more conscious when driving almost hyper-alert which in turn makes the process of driving more difficult. Because the process of driving is controlled by the unconscious, you don’t consciously think I must change gears, or put my foot down on the clutch when changing gears, this interference adds anxiety to their real ability to drive.
Hypnosis can help you re-programme your mind to overcome the fear of driving, to feel relaxed and in control when driving whilst maintaining a safe level of focus.

It does not matter how long you have been living with your fear or phobia or how severe it appears hypnotherapy can help you overcome them. Elliott has been using hypnotherapy for over thirteen years, helping hundreds of clients to overcome their fears & phobias.
