insomniaWe have all experienced the occasional night’s lack of sleep; it can make us feel tired, irritable and unable to function at our very best. However, if you suffer with insomnia this can be a daily experience and create a real level of anxiety and agitation around the whole issue of sleep.

Generally insomniacs will have tried countless methods to try and overcome their insomnia before coming to see ‘The Hypnosis Expert’ Elliott Wald, to help them sleep deeply and overcome their insomnia. They may have tried waiting to go to sleep until they feel tired and then find the moment they get to bed, they are unable to fall asleep. Or perhaps they are the type of person whose insomnia begins once they actually fall asleep, finding themselves constantly waking throughout the night tossing and turning. Some people with insomnia find it difficult to switch off and their mind begins to race with thoughts when they go to bed, making it impossible to settle down to a nice deep sleep.

It is estimated that one in four people experience insomnia at some point in their lives. Insomniacs can dread bed time. They already know they are not going to get proper night’s sleep! And so it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, it’s like this; if you try not to think of a pink elephant, you’ll probably think of one. If you try to get an annoying song out of your head, you’ll probably find that it just keeps playing, so if you have to try to fall asleep, you already know you’re going to have yet another sleepless night. Your mind is an incredible learning machine rather like a filing cabinet; it records and stores virtually everything you do and it records everything in your unconscious mind (your memory). After a period of time this unwanted lack of sleep we call insomnia becomes a habit, think about it logically, you are not supposed to try to fall asleep, you’re supposed to just do it.

Now, you may not even have the same reasons that affected your sleeping patterns in the first place, you simply have a pattern of not being able to get to sleep or waking up through the course of the night for no apparent reason. This is where hypnosis can be very helpful, by breaking the pattern and cycle that your unconscious has created, because these records are stored away in files or neurologically referred to as engrams. In your ‘sleep file’ is a recording for good, high quality sleep and a recording for sleep disturbance. If you are experiencing sleep disturbance, your unconscious mind is hot wired to the negative sleep file.

Hypnosis to overcome insomnia and help you sleep deeply

Hypnosis can help you to change it. Your brain is an expert at having insomnia. It does not know how to do it any differently. If it did, you wouldn’t have the sleep problem any more. So, in order to sleep deeply, you must communicate with your unconscious to pick up the correct ‘sleep file’ allowing you to stay asleep once you are asleep. With hypnosis, you can soon learn to become an expert at falling asleep.

The symptoms of insomnia can include:

1. Difficulty getting to sleep.
2. Difficulty staying asleep (frequently waking up and difficulty getting back to sleep).
3. Waking up early in the morning.
4. Feeling tired in the morning or in the late afternoon.
